So yesterday I upset the gods of good house-keeping. Anthea Turner and Martha Stewart obviously read my post and decided to send evil omens my way.

Yes, I spent the night up with Jack, who as it turns out after a quick SOS trip to the doctor this morning, is suffering from a middle ear infection and a chest infection. Double Whammy. I am running on about 3 hours sleep broken up into 45 minute shifts caught between getting kicked in the patchanga by a wriggling son in my bed. Mr Woog slept soundly in the spare room snoring gently as a result of consumption of half a bottle of red wine. He did deliver my coffee as per usual and told me about the beautiful day outside, making him an instant marked man.

So now I am dealing with a 4 year old suffering man flu - except that this time it is diagnosed and being treated with Ammoxil. Does that mean I cannot drink? I certainly hope not.

4 year old man-flu is very different from 36 year old man flu. Firstly he does not stumble pathetically around the house. He actually goes to the doctor. He does not need hot/cold packs. He takes his medicine when told. And he sure as shit does not remind you that he feels sick every 7 seconds.

But not everyone is on my side here. I have a nasty lurker/troll who believes I give Mr Woog a very hard time, amongst other issues. If you continue to piss me off Mr, I will have no choice but to publish your email address. OR feature a weekly column on you. In fact that would be ok by me - send a photo of yourself you hideous cretin. Or your address and I can send you a newly minted Woogsworld T-Shirt. I will get SawHole to deliver it.

Unless you guys have a better idea??

Bill Holmes here, VP of business development.

Today Steve Jobs unveiled the new second-generation Apple TV, which includes streaming instantly from Netflix at no additional charge to Netflix members.

This is the third significant announcement this year about a Netflix collaboration with Apple. First came the introduction in April of a Netflix app for iPad, which was followed a few weeks ago by an app for iPhone and iPod touch. We couldn’t be more pleased than to be in partnership with Apple to enable you to instantly watch movies and TV shows from Netflix on these groundbreaking devices.

Of course, we’re continuing to work on more devices and platforms to reach our goal of being ubiquitous on every screen on which you’d want to watch movies and TV episodes streamed instantly from Netflix.

The new Apple TV brings this goal even closer.

Enjoy!
Bill

I bought a Coach Cupcake Keyring while I was in the US last week. The website says $38 but I'm pretty sure I paid $26 in store.

It's a bit pricey but it looks really cute on my handbag. Too cute to put my keys on it and hide it in my purse. Gives my handbag a bit of character as well!

This is a round up of all the weird, wacky and delicious things I ate and saw while I was in Tennessee (and the few interesting things in Aruba).

We had Full Service BBQ catered for our rehearsal dinner. The BBQ sauce was very good. Full Service operate out of a small old gas station!

It was a nice coincidence that my wedding photographers studio was a stones throw away from The Cupcakery and Cities Cupcakes.
It was in a posh looking strip mall

The cupcakes were good but they were a little simple for the price

 I chose a Summer Crush

and a Pink Lemonade

 I prefer Cities Cupcakes

I love their frosting shots! I had a Savannah (the smores one)

They have a lot of flavors but only bake a selection each day

Carmel was excellent

Miami (Lemon) was very good. I also had an Orlando but my sister ate it without taking a picture.

We got my wedding favors from Schakolad!

They have everything!

Alex tried a chocolate covered pretzel. My dad and I got some of their gelato. The one we went to did a $1 special of one item each day of the week. The day we went was a $1 for a scoop of gelato.

This isn't a good picture. We had a nice box of 3 chocolate truffles with a gold bow for our wedding favors.

There are a lot of chain restaurants where I was in Tennessee (the local places are all great BBQ joints) but I never get to go to these places so it was great! I did find a few gems though. I had this really great Monte Cristo sandwich at Cheddar's.

and Strawberry Lemonade

Not as exciting but very good Raspberry Swirl cake at Starbucks

Update: I forgot to add these 2 pictures from Sweet Celebrations. The roast beef sandwich with jus was so tasty.

They have a wide selection of desserts. This cupcake was really cute.

One of my favorite places we went was the Apple Barn in Pigeon Forge. They make pies, candy, wine, jams and pretty much sell every apple knick knack you can think of.

The extensive case of jams

We went to the Cider Bar and had apple snacks. The apple donuts were very good!

Apple Pie

Fried Apple Pie

Apple Dumpling

Now for the more weird and wacky. This isn't wacky but I love the rocking chairs at Charlotte airport.

 Bubblegum pudding?

Cake flavored ice cream? yes please!

Cheeseburger potato chips? Not so sure about those.

No guns allowed inside!

This was in Aruba. Jackie Chan shampoo!?

The food selection in Aruba was catered towards Americans which is ok since I don't get this stuff in the UK. Fried bananas at Texas de Brazil

Please, no more meat or I'll explode.

But there's always room for banana pie!

Fried ice cream at Sawasdee

It was good but could have been hotter on the outside. Food there was pretty good too.

My favorite of the trip fried Oreos at Iguana Joe's

I went back on our last night for just dessert. I'm going to lay off the fried foods for awhile I think...

AAI Guide Alasdair Turner just returned from an incredibly unusual trip. Alasdair was hired to do the rope work for a study on golden eagles. Following is a blog he originally posted on his personal blog last month...
_________________________________________________

I just got back from a week of working with WA Dept of Fish and Wildlife. The work was some of the more interesting that I have done this summer. I spent the week collecting prey remains from from golden eagle nests in an attempt to identify what the eagles are eating. Eagles will put their nests on cliff faces often in caves to protect them from the weather. Getting to many of these nests was pretty challenging and each presented a unique problem. Some nests have no overhead anchors and very loose rock making for difficult climbing conditions. Once at each nest I would collect any pellets and any remains of prey that were in the nest.

Me sitting in a particularly challenging nest.

I found all sorts of animal parts in the nests including deer faun legs, coyote skulls, lots of marmot skulls, game bird legs, raptor skull, and snake parts. From a non-biologist perspective it appears that eagles will eat anything available and are pretty good hunters.

One of the last nests we did still had a chick in it. Soon after this photo was shot the bird fledged and made a remarkably graceful first flight out of the nest and down to the valley below.

The bird was captured, banded and fitted with a GPS tracking device.

Banding the bird. This is the business end of an eagle. The talons are the main danger in dealing with eagles.

Adding the band.

The eagle with the GPS tracker.

And a couple of eagle portraits.

The eagle then had to be returned to the nest. This involved wading across a creek, hiking up a hill, climbing down to the nest and putting the bird in.

In this photo I am standing in the nest so I can put the bird back. After grabbing the bird I put it in the nest and quickly climbed out. The bird stayed and we left. (WDFW photo)
