The effect of increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide were first reported, and largely ignored, 20 years ago. Today, those early findings are being vindicated as recent research shows that atmostpheric C02 is being absorbed by the ocean and is resulting in a more acidic environment that erodes corals and shellfish the way osteoporosis erodes human bone.

Coral reefs support 25% percent of all marine life. Add this research into the already known effects of coral bleaching due to increased water temperatures and you have all the proof you need that the effects of climate change go far beyond what is occuring on the visible surface.
