Perfect days are special mainly because they are so stinking rare.
So when they happen, they are the perfect counterpoint to all those other days. You know, days that are mundane, days that are sad, days where we know we should "live in the moment" but really with a "to-do" list this long, I race anxiously from one thing to another.
Yesterday was such a day.
I began my day here sipping a coffee and soaking up some sunshine before starting a course.

and ended it here surrounded by the people I love most in the world.

I was fortunate to spend a whole day at the Perth Writers Festival learning about the publishing process and some of the inner machinations of the industry itself. I'll write more on that soon.
Needless to say the day was inspiring and confronting in equal measure. But it was just fantastic to be in the room with so many people sharing similar dreams, and learning from people who actually know how to achieve them.
The weekend promises more of the same which I am so excited about.
Once the course was done I went home and swooped up my little clan and Husband. We then took the children to the beach to see Sculptures by the Sea and watch the sunset.
There were ice-creams of course, and singing cheesy sixties songs using the cone as a microphone. I see many wondrous years ahead devoted entirely to embarrassing my offspring this way. Just wonderful.
I'm so grateful.

It's one of my favourite times of the week where inspired by Maxabella I think about what I am grateful for.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it for you dear reader. It hasn't been a great week. 1)husband away 2) sick children 2) feeling a bit left out socially 4) deadlines etc etc.
HOWEVER
The renovations are coming along dustily and this weekend I am going to the local fair. I love a good fair.
I baked this as well. And my brother photographed it. He's awesome.

Now here is my grateful focus.
One of my "crutches" is Kikki-k. I adore it. I have my diary for next year safely stored away and the wall calendar is filling up nicely.
But one of my most recent ideas was that to get the most benefit from my new kitchen (still a disaster area btw, nothing to see here yet I'm afraid) I wanted to streamline my recipes and get new ones. So I've been raiding my mother's cookbooks and leafing through my old ones.
And I bought this superb folder from them where I can store my new favourite recipes in one place instead of operating from several different cookbooks.

It's chic and gorgeous. Just like my kitchen will be eventually. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

I was given a voucher for Kikki-K shortly after buying this and instead of using it myself, I thought it would make a lovely giveaway to one of my lovely readers. My way of showing how grateful I am.
It's worth $60 which should buy you something(s) rather lovely I hope.

please follow or subscribe to my blog, or leave me your carrier pigeon details so I can contact you if you win.
And leave a comment saying what you're grateful for this week.
I'll pick a winner on Friday.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

*runs in puffing and panting* Sorry I'm late with this post Maxabella but this week has been rather busy.
I'm in my happy place right now and it's all good.
So I have created a shortlist of things I'm grateful for

1. Warm weather and cool refreshing drinks.

2. Taking all our offspring to the Royal Show and having a really fantastic time.

3. Almost certainly having accommodation sorted for our Sydney Trip. Yayness!

4. School holidays. 2 weeks no school run and wearing my beloved velour sweatpants every day.

5. Renovations start in 2 weeks. Though I suspect my gratefulness levels will drop significantly when they do actually start. Right now, I'm the the "anticipation because this is so exciting stage"

5. My husband is home. Nuff said.
