My little gecko has been very healthy, and has adapted well enough to life in captivity. He has learned to associate me with food, so whenever I approach his tank, he comes out of hiding and looks up to see what I have for him.

But every night as he patrols his little home, searching for food and wondering why he can't escape through the glass even though he can see through it, I feel bad for keeping him.

So tomorrow when we start our vacation, I will bring him along for the ride. We will be driving through many miles of western banded gecko home range. I will keep my eyes open for a good spot to release him.
