Genus Xanthorrhoea
This plant at the arboretum is native to Australia, and is neither grass nor tree. It puts out tall flower spikes that attract lots of bugs. Unfortunately, when I found myself with a little extra free time the other day, it was overcast and not too many bugs were out.
