Adolf Hitler’s 50th birthday on April 20, 1939 was a national holiday in Nazi Germany. On that day, the largest military parade in the history of the Third Reich was held in Berlin. In total, 40,000 to 50,000 German troops took part in the parade, which lasted about five hours and included 12 companies of the Luftwaffe, 12 companies of the Army, and 12 companies of sailors, as well as the SS. 162 warplanes flew over the city of Berlin.
The grandstand comprised 20,000 official guests, and the parade was watched by several hundreds of thousands of spectators. Features of the parade were large long range air defence artillery guns, emphasis on motorized artillery and development of air defense units. [Source: Wikipedia]

The New Jerseyan dude's mega hitter "Bicycle" has now a new video by the visual maestro Jaime Harley, who has previously contributed exceptionally beautiful stuff for Memoryhouse and is now also a part of the group itself.
It's made of animal instincts and you can watch the video and listen to Memory Tapes' grand album "Seek Magic" below.

Anyone who is not going to visit their family tonight should go and check the fabulous German electro artist Barbara Panther at Korjaamo. Last night I was fortunate enough to witness her gig in Telakka and fell in love with her music instantly.
Her music is like a mixture of something sweet and something painfully sharp. Behind the spookycore beats and eerie sounds lies a brilliant pop song with a melody that could choke your heart. All this is topped with a magnificent voice that you could build whole imaginary worlds upon.
Here's a little hint on what you can expect.
Danish superband Efterklang has a new album called "Magic Chairs" coming out in just ten days and there's a sweet video out for the album opener "Modern Drift".
The is kinda like the best shot wild life programme you've seen in a while and the gorgeous sounds aren't exactly a letdown. They're getting almost to the level of BBC's Planet Earth with this one!
The group is coming to Korjaamo, Helsinki on April, 7 and it should be spectacular as their last gig a year ago in Tavastia, Helsinki was absolutely gorgeous. Let's hope the group get pumped up enough to perform amongst the audience too, as they did here that last time.
The group's previous album "Parades" is one the great albums from 2007 and you can listen to it right below while getting pumped up about the forthcoming record.
Chillwave favourite Neon Indian will perform at Redrum, Helsinki tomorrow, December 3rd.
Tickets are suprisingly cheap, only 8 euros, so I guess we'll be expecting the venue as either a completely packed or half-empty.
I myself am pretty excited about this, as the album "Psychic Chasms" is one of the many and ever changing top albums this year.
Here's one of my favourite tracks from the album Mind, Drips.
Bristol-duo Fuck Buttons are bringing the noise at Kuudes Linja, Helsinki tomorrow. The tickets are 12 euros and the doors are open from 21.
Here's the woozy video for "Surf Solar" from their album Tarot Sport.
I was fortunate enough to witness the ecstatic The Tallest Man On Earth-show on the 20th November in YO-Talo, Tampere. The evening had been a fine one with warm-up acts including Liechtenstein and Taxi Taxi! and it was soon going to get even better as The Tallest Man On Earth, born Kristian Matsson, climbed on stage and began his one-man folk-boogie.
His evasive appearance as he wandered to and fro and about on the stage gave a sharp contrast to the soul-piercing, slightly dylanesque presence of his voice. From the first couple of chords it was obvious it was going to be a great show but I shortly discovered it was in fact going to be one of the best I've seen in ages. If you ever have the chance to go and see this guy play live, do go!
The Tallest Man On Earth will be releasing a new album next January. Here's hoping its promotional tour will bring him back to Finland.
The Stockholm based soft-pop group Miike Snow is coming to Kuudes Linja on Monday (that's 23th of November).
Their own stuff is pretty good too, but one the bigger achievements comes from one of the remixers, Fake Blood. The simpleton bounce of the track is truely buck wild!
The tickets are 14 euros and the doors will be open from 21:00.
Here's the "Animal" remix by Fake Blood and videos for "Animal" and "Burial" from their self-titled album.
The first Valoa Festival will be held next weekend in Tampere. The line-up includes interesting Finnish acts, such as Joensuu 1685, Liekki and Viola, but on Friday the stage at YO-Talo will be taken by the Swedish greats Taxi Taxi!, Liechtenstein and The Tallest Man On Earth. I myself am very much looking forward to seeing the tall gentleman live for the first time.
The tickets to YO-Talo are 13 euros and the weekend pass for the festivals is 35 euros which entitles entrance to both venues, YO-Talo and Artturi, on Friday and Saturday.
The Tallest Man On Earth has been praised both for his debut album Shallow Grave and for his live performances around the world. It's no surprise really. Even on a recording his presence is really strong and you can almost imagine him sitting in your room, right where your stereo set used to be, so the gravity mush be even greater in person.
Here's hoping he'll play the wonderful Where Do My Bluebirds Fly from Shallow Grave.
The Tallest Man On Earth - Where Do My Bluebirds Fly
Update: I just realised that The Tallest Man On Earth will also be playin in Korjaamo, Helsinki; Lichtenstein will be playing in Klubi, Turku; and Taxi Taxi! at Bar Kuka, Turku the next day. Saturday that is.
Johnny Jewell is shipping two of his projects, Glass Candy and Desire, for live shows to Klubi, Tampere tomorrow and to Redrum, Helsinki on Thursday. Both bands have released some killer tunes and yours truly is rather exited about having these two nu-disco greats sharing the stage in his hometown.
Tickets are 14 euros to both nights which really is a bargain for two great foreign bands.
Here's a couple of quickies to get your groove on while waiting for the Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Glass Candy - Rolling Down The Hills
Desire - Under Your Spell
You can also listen to the albums of both Desire and Glass Candy in full glory with Spotify.
Hang the Dj! is celebrating it's three years of clubbing this Saturday at Klubi, Tampere. Live music is provided by Emotions, which includes Mikko Pykäri, the handsome bass player/percussionist/dancer from Regina. Free entrance from 9 pm to 11 pm, after which the tickets will be 5 euros.
Of course, Kari Tapio will be playing next door so the choice will be difficult.
YACHT's DFA release See Mystery Lights is a real gem from last year. Super-infectious anthems and almost ritualistic boogiedom packed with serious style.
We can expect "uncluttered, inspiring sessions of damaged dance moves and synchronized crowd-waving, backed by constantly changing elements -- PowerPoint presentations, audience Q&A sessions, and shamanistic video environments."
Tickets 10EUR, including a drink.
Showtime should be around 00:00.
