Saw these on the wall outside my house last night. I'm pretty sure they're armyworms. They will drop down on silken threads into my grass. Of course, the army is likely to suffer many casualties along the way and be eaten by birds, lizards, spiders, wasps, maybe even my dog! Those that survive will eat my plants and grow up to be brown moths.
